Curious about the Scion FR-S mpg numbers? Official EPA fuel efficiency figures have been posted on fueleconomy.gov, and it appears the 2.0L four-cylinder powered Scion FR-S will get 22 - mpg city, 30 - mpg highway.
Those are the figures for the manual-equipped models, while the automatic Scion FR-S should get around 25 - mpg city, 34 - mpg highway.
Scion has always been a friend to the automotive aftermarket, and with the new Scion FR-S, the tuner sect is about to get even more friendly with the brand. Evidence of this close relationship with aftermarket companies can be found in the measuring session Scion hosted at Toyota’s North American headquarters in Torrance, Calif., where numerous... The car will no doubt be nearly identical to the... [Read More]
From two brands, a single vehicle emerges: an affordable, basic, rear-wheel-drive Japanese sports car. Twenty years ago, this sort of vehicle was commonplace. Japanese carmakers had been giving us inexpensive, *reliable, rear-drive sports-car catnip since the 1970 Datsun 240Z. After effectively killing off their Italian and British... [Read More]
Blame it on economics or blame it on Scion’s one-trim-level marketing policy, but U.S. buyers won’t be seeing a stripped-down version of Scion’s FR-S sport coupe in the foreseeable future.
That contrasts with the Japanese launch of the Toyota GT-86 and the Subaru BRZ, both of which will come in decontented versions for the home market. Aimed at racers,... [Read More]
Drifting champ and Scion spokesdriver Ken Gushi narrowly missed a deer while shooting a spot for the Scion FR-S, and the helicopter camera crew caught the entire ordeal in glorious high-def.

The long-awaited Toyota GT 86 / Scion FR-S seems ideally suited to motorsport events like drifting, autocross, time attack and club racing--particularly compared to anything else in the Toyota/Scion stable. It stands to reason that many cars will undergo the transition from street car to race car immediately after delivery, so why not offer track car builders the least... [Read More]
One of the most eye-grabbing cars at the 2012 Houston Auto Show is at the Scion display. It’s the compact 2013 FR-S rear-wheel-drive sports car. While the vehicle at the auto show is a concept, Scion says the car on display is about 85 percent true to the production model set to go on sale this spring. Pricing isn’t available, but the mid- to upper-$20,000s is the... [Read More]

Scion's FR-S sports car has a chance to be the next big hit in affordable performance with its promise of nimble handling combined with a driver-oriented cockpit and Jenny-Craig-like weight management. Like many sports cars, a big tachometer rather than a speedometer sits front and center in the FR-S' gauge cluster to monitor engine revs.

It looks as if Scion may be hard at work on a new turbocharged FR-S prototype. Motor Trend nabbed a quick video of what appears to be a forced-induction version of the coupe darting around Laguna Seca. With its tall wing and sideways antics, the vehicle is likely being put through its paces by the Scion drift team, which has had to rely on specially modified TC models... [Read More]

The United States sister of the Subaru BRZ, known as the Scion FR-S will go on sale in the United States marker in spring of 2012. It doesn't take long to realize the 2013 Scion FR-S is special -- just an aggressive 4-second wide-open throttle jab, a short three-two downshift, and a clockwise rotation of the FR-S' small 14.4-inch diameter helm.
It's at this point in my drive, as I'm heading into Sodegaura Forest Raceway's sharp, right-hand Turn 1, that the bright orange... [Read More]
Here is some info about Flat Four engine technology
A flat-4 or horizontally-opposed-4 is a flat engine with four cylinders arranged horizontally in two banks of two cylinders on each side of a central crankcase. The pistons are usually mounted on the crankshaft such that opposing pistons move back and forth in opposite directions at the same time, somewhat like a boxing competitor punching their gloves together before a fight, which has led to it being referred to as a boxer...
